Since 1991, the THEATER MIRAKULUM has been delighting audiences for three generations with outstanding puppet theatre productions. It is one of the most fascinating and authentic cultural venues for puppetry in the vibrant city of Berlin. Thomas Mierau, who has lived in Berlin since 1979 and runs the theatre, is not only an experienced entrepreneur, but also a versatile puppeteer with sound professional training. In addition to running the theatre, he also works as a director, author, set designer and lecturer. Thomas Mierau's conceptual approach to his own plays is based on the idea of a Gesamtkunstwerk, inspired by the tradition of the solo puppeteer. He tells stories with the aesthetic means of puppetry and at the same time creates the technical and artistic foundations for this. With his many years of professional experience, he effortlessly succeeds in inspiring and winning over children and adults alike as serious audience partners.
Since its foundation, the Volksbühne has continuously developed innovative forms of directing and expanded their impact.
