Since 2000, the Brandenburg Gate Foundation has been based in the Max Liebermann House, a reconstructed building on Pariser Platz, right next to the Brandenburg Gate. This unique location is an important chapter in German history. No other place in Germany combines the splendour, endangerment and decline of culture as closely as Max Liebermann's house at this prominent location at the Brandenburg Gate, whose significance extends beyond local borders into the European context. The Brandenburger Tor Foundation, as the cultural foundation of Berliner Sparkasse, derives its mission from this: to emphasise and strengthen the importance of culture for our civil society. The foundation is involved in aesthetic education, organises exhibitions and promotes cultural debates, conferences and projects.
