Since the 1990s, the Renaissance Theatre in Berlin has relied on a unique repertoire concept dedicated to international contemporary drama. The theatre, described by J. W. Preuß as the "most sophisticated private stage in Germany", promises its visitors a programme that critically addresses current social developments on the one hand and, on the other, is both emotionally moving and stimulates intense debate. In addition to the main productions, the repertoire also includes readings and events such as the Literary Forays, where biographies and new publications are presented. The programme also includes musical and literary programmes in the Bruckner Foyer. Special programmes are aimed specifically at a young audience.
Since its foundation, the Volksbühne has continuously developed innovative forms of directing and expanded their impact.

We present ourselves as a theatre for children and young people, which means that our focus is strongly on performances for children of primary school age. Occasionally, we also put on evening performances and enjoy great popularity with the "adult audience" with the same productions that we organise for families and school classes.
