For almost 800 years, the Nikolaikirche has shaped the Nikolaiviertel and the city centre of Berlin. Originally conceived as a spiritual place, it now functions as a museum that reveals the fascinating history of the church, architecture and urban development. The basement floors of the striking double tower, built from robust rock, give visitors access to the oldest preserved rooms in the city of Berlin.
Following its restoration as part of the city's 750th anniversary celebrations, this unique monument now serves as a museum. The permanent exhibition "From the Stadtgrund to the Doppelspitze" provides fascinating insights into the history of the building and the neighbouring Nikolai Quarter. In addition to regular events and concerts, including the weekly organ recital on Fridays, the church invites visitors to come and see more. A special programme is also aimed at young visitors, especially children and teenagers.
