The riding stable of the Prussian kings, which was originally built as an orangery in 1685, was given its present form in the 18th century by the master builder Knobelsdorff von Sanssouci. Since 1981, the magnificent baroque building, which is located in the historic centre of Potsdam, has been home to the film museum and a cosy café. Once known as the "Film Museum of the GDR", the building is now under the supervision of the state of Brandenburg. Since July 2011, it has been an integral part of the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, formerly the Film and Television University "Konrad Wolf" Potsdam-Babelsberg. The permanent exhibition and regularly changing exhibitions take visitors to the Marstall into the fascinating world of film. Several screenings are offered daily in the cinema. The ever-growing collections of film history in Babelsberg serve as a veritable treasure trove for researchers and exhibition curators. From this location, you can easily reach the parks and palaces of the World Heritage Site by tram. From the nearby main railway station, Filmpark Babelsberg is easy to reach by S-Bahn.
