This principle not only runs through the life motto of the beloved children's author and philanthropist, but is also the guiding principle of the Astrid Lindgren Stage at the FEZ Berlin. Astrid Lindgren wrote and spoke about what children need and what they lack. Her powerful drive was to encourage children to be authentically themselves - free, genuine, creative personalities.
The Astrid Lindgren Stage strives to open up a new dimension for children - a world of adventure, fantasy, music and poetry: the world of theatre.
With 559 seats, the Astrid-Lindgren-Bühne is the largest children's theatre in Berlin. In addition to the impressive theatre hall, the puppet stage and studio stage are used for intimate puppetry productions. In more than 270 performances a year, the Astrid-Lindgren-Bühne offers a fascinating mixture of drama, puppet theatre, music and dance for children aged two to fourteen. The wide-ranging programme includes in-house productions such as "Pippi Longstocking", "The Little Aquarius", "Mio, my Mio" and "Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver". There are also guest performances by renowned children's and youth theatres from Berlin and throughout Germany. Concerts by recognised children's songwriters such as Robert Metcalf and Gerhard Schöne as well as guest productions from the fields of dance and music, including the Deutsche Oper and the Staatsballett Berlin, round off the programme.
With around 55,000 visitors of all ages every year, the Astrid-Lindgren-Bühne continues to enjoy great popularity with its audience.
