C/O Berlin is an exhibition centre for photography and visual media. As a non-profit foundation, it presents works by renowned artists, promotes up-and-coming talent and invites visitors on voyages of discovery through our visual culture. As a meeting place, C/O Berlin organises artist talks, panel discussions, film screenings and guided tours that allow visitors to engage in a direct exchange about the exhibition programme and current debates in the visual media. Supporting young talents on their artistic path is an integral part of its work. The C/O Berlin Talent Award is the only prize in Europe that honours a duo of artist and theoretician up to the age of 35. C/O Berlin's education section complements the programme with the important part of visual education and art mediation. The Junior, Teens, Adults and Perspectives formats offer the opportunity to familiarise themselves with photography, film and design under professional conditions and to playfully transform them into their own ideas. The C/O Berlin Foundation operates independently of commercial interests and is financed by admission fees, book sales, sponsorship, project funding, donations and grants from the C/O Berlin Friends support association. Since the 2020/2021 financial year, C/O Berlin has also received funding from the Senate Department for Culture and Europe and the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises. Since 2014, C/O Berlin has been located in the Amerika Haus at Bahnhof Zoo, which has been renovated in accordance with its status as a historical monument. The Amerika Haus was built in 1956/57 by Bruno Grimmek as a cultural meeting place and information centre.
