BKA-Theater, Mehringdamm, Berlin, Deutschland

Since 1988, the jewel among cabaret theatres has been located on the fifth floor of Mehringdamm in Kreuzberg: the Berliner Kabarett Anstalt, also known as the BKA Theatre or simply the BKA for Berliners. The cabaret originated with the group "Die Enterbten", which emerged from the legendary CaDeWe - Cabaret des Westens. This cabaret was known throughout Germany from 1978 to 1985 for its cheeky political music cabaret and then re-formed in 1986. The artists wanted to settle down again, so in 1988 they moved into the traditional commercial building at Mehringdamm 34 and transformed the legendary discotheque Dachluke into a theatre. Over the following three decades, the BKA has become synonymous with sophisticated, original and political entertainment in Berlin - the BKA's programme and concept have continued to grow in importance since it was founded on 30 April 1988.
