Berlinische Galerie, Alte Jakobstraße, Berlin, Deutschland

The Berlinische Galerie, founded as one of the capital's newest cultural treasures in 1975 as a private association, is dedicated to collecting art from Berlin from 1870 to the present day. It combines a local focus with an international orientation.

In 2004, the Landesmuseum opened its own building in the immediate vicinity of the Jewish Museum. The premises were created in a generously converted industrial hall and offer an impressive 4,600 square metres of exhibition space. The collection encompasses various forms of visual art, including painting, graphics, sculpture, multimedia, photography, architecture and artists' archives. The skilful combination of these disciplines creates fascinating dialogues that reflect the diversity of the artistic world.

Particular highlights of the collection focus on Dada Berlin, New Objectivity and the Eastern European avant-garde. Another focus is on the art of the divided Berlin and the reunited metropolis, which gives the gallery a unique orientation and significance.

In the venerable walls of a former brewery in Berlin-Neukölln, the KINDL - Centre for Contemporary Art unfolds a fascinating variety of installations, performances, paintings and other artistic forms of expression.
